It's December!

Well, here we are into December already. Where does the time go? November ended up being a very busy month. We got our tractor back - yippee! and it is working fine so far. Pigs went to the butcher and are now in the freezer. Baby Foxy is now weaned and keeping Beamer company. Beam's injured leg is healing and she is walking on it quite well. I managed to teach the ladies on Fridays for the whole month, amazing considering what time of year it is. Looks like we may have to put off riding for awhile with the weather forecast and it is snowing right now. So next it is getting ready for Christmas - my favorite season. The horses are all furry and fat and so sweet. Pregnant mare's tummies are growing and they are either cranky or really mellow....

November Already!

Wow, here it is the first week of November gone already! Where does the time go anyway? I am experiencing some difficulty with my web site at the moment but am hoping to have it fixed soon! We definitely are into the winter season - snow and now rain which equals very nasty ice. It is also very, very overcast and gloomy.

We are busy working on the By-laws etc. for our new Appaloosa club and are making good progress. I think we will be able to make our December 31 deadline for the first draft. I am still busy teaching lessons, go once a week to the indoor arena. The students share the cost of a private booking slot. It is working quite well.

I am hoping to add some new photos to the blog this week so will be back!

Central Appaloosa Horse Club

Several Appaloosa owners are trying to get a central Alberta Appaloosa club going so we can do a few things together without having to travel quite so far. We have had a fairly positive response and it is encouraging. However, in order for this to be viable it is necessary to be able to chat with people to get their thoughts and ideas. We have set up a group in yahoo in order to do this, but need the interested people to please join and share your thoughts with us all.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/centralappaloosahorseclub

When joining up make sure to include your name as well as your email address! and location.
Talk to you soon!

Most Important

Here is the most important activity of Thanksgiving Day! The turkey and ham were oh, so good. Erin and Krissie's pies - delicious. Of course, we all ate way too much but it was worth it. Twenty - four people sat down for dinner, what a superb day it was. Thanks Charlene and Rob for having us all over.

Brave Man

I think Ivan must be a very brave guy to let these two try this! Ha! Ha!

Shooter Champ

Erin proved to be the most accurate shooter! We sure won't mess with her!!

Black Powder Demonstration

Ivan gave us a great demonstration on Black Powder guns and shooting. Love his hat!

Thanksgiving Trail Ride

Here we are heading out for our trail ride after getting the cows moved. I think we rode for about 3 hours or so. Was awesome. Mel and I were a bit outnumbered, but that was OK.

Nail Pounding Contest

Here is the winning team for the Nail Pounding contest on Thanksgiving Day. They sure put up a lot of fence in a very short time! Great idea it was and pretty entertaining.

Thanksgiving Cattle Drive

Here is one of our Thanksgiving Day activities. It was such a gorgeous day, we were so lucky. We moved my niece and her husband's cows from summer pasture back home. It was fun! Very good practice for Totie, he is getting all sorts of experiences now and is handling it all very well.

Starmyri's Top Ranch Hand

Here are a couple of pictures of my "Ranch Hand", Cruiser or also known as "The Cruise"! He is such a funny boy and we are so glad that we rescued him!

Three Friends

Well, Saturday was a pretty nice day for the most part and we managed to get more pictures done! Krissie "forced" me to be in some of them, she says that we have no new pics of me. I kinda liked this one of Cruiser, Banner and myself. As usual the Cruise was trying hard to be helpful, funny boy! This photo also displays what type of temperament this beautiful stallion has. Had four horses inspected for their upgrade into the Identified Appaloosa registry this past week. Poor vet - he had a very hard time figuring out how to describe Magic! Will send off the paperwork on Tuesday and have to wait for the results. Will eventually have everyone done, just takes money and time! This upcoming week will bring on the weaning time for Foxy, not that she cares much about mom anymore anyway. Spends more time with the yearlings. Also have the wood splitter booked so will be splitting the winter supply of wood - at least get a start on it!

Horsemanship Clinic

Tomorrow is the clinic with Marv Amlin. Unfortunately I am not participating but will be auditing. I am looking forward to it! It has been a very busy week, worked at the Vet Clinic Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and today. Am a bit tired tonight, Clinic was busy as per usual. We rode our first practice for our Drill Team last night, was lots of fun. I rode Totie and he did very well, a little nervous at times but handled it well. He will do fine. He is so nice to ride, but his stride is so much bigger than everyone else's I hope we can fit in. I think it will be a very good thing to have the time to ride with the girls. Lots of laughs to be had.

They're Done!

Well, our new shelters are Done! Yahoo!!! It is so nice to see them up after all this time! I think the horses like them too. Just have to pull a few more stumps and the pens will be good. Some of those are pretty stubborn tho.

Upsetting Week

This week has been pretty upside down. Our sweet puppy, Samson was killed by our neighbor (ran over him) and Beamer got herself caught in the fence and cut her leg badly. She is healing very well though, just takes time. It has been cool so no flies. We miss our Sammy so much though, so does Pluto and Sparky. Lynn & Mel have almost finished the last shelter too - yay! The fall colours are getting so beautiful, but it feels like winter is close.

Stars Really Foxy

Got Foxy's registration papers back today and her official name is Stars Really Foxy. Her colour has changed so much now and she doesn't look like a fox anymore! She is also getting sclera and white hairs on her rump and flanks so she may colour out yet. What a sweetheart too.

My Buds

Here's Magic, Babe and Scoot trying to convince me to bring them in! Always think there is something good in it for them......big bums!

Melina

Here is my new farmstay kiddo! Mel is from Germany and is turning out to be a great help to me. We have been doing lots of riding and I am getting some miles on these young geldings finally! With Krissie back in college I am very happy to have Mel here, not nearly so lonely.

Update On Foxy

News - Stars Foxy Lady is an INDIAN SHUFFLER! Caught her in the act day before yesterday performing a beautiful shuffle. Wasn't sure before, but there is no doubt now. I am very happy about this.

Another Busy Week

Well, it has been another very busy week here. Lots of lessons and stuff. Got to ride Totie and Kidd, they are doing very good in their training. It was so nice to see sunshine again! Almost too hot yesterday but the breeze was a saviour.

Bernice sent me some pictures from the Nez Perce Ride in June. I particularly like this one.

Happy Boys

Well, the big boys are finally back together until next spring! They are always so happy at this time of year, play, play, play!!! Love to watch them romping around. Got their feet trimmed yesterday, weather was cool enough to do things.

Favorite Class at Horse Show

Here is my favorite class at the Wildwood Horse Show last week! Aren't they the cutest little things? The show had an excellent turnout this year with some very stiff competition. Saw lots of folks and did lots of visiting!

Good Job Showing

Here's one of my little students with some of her results from the Performance portion of the NAG Regional Competition on Saturday, August 11. They sure are a cute pair! Congrats for a really great effort in beginning your "show" career, Brook and Denise.

Stars Satinka

Here is Stars Satinka, our yearling Indian Shuffler gelding. Isn't he a lovely one?.......LH

Stars Really Foxy

Here is our 2007 beauty at one month of age. We didn't get the colour we really like, but sure did get everything else! She is growing like a weed and is such a little sweetheart, so quiet and easy to be with, but a total brat with her pasture mates cause they have totally spoiled her!!

Magic & I

Here is Magic and I at the Survival Tree on day 2 of the 2007 Nez Perce Ride to Freedom. It was such a great time with lots and lots of riding. Look forward to next year to see everyone again and meet new participants. Did this to try out posting a picture too. LH

Hi everyone

Well, I am finally getting around to setting up a blog for us! I am hoping for lots of visitors and comments. I will be going to post new photos on a weekly basis for all to enjoy. Wish me luck!
